History, creativity, and discovery take center stage at Megaworld Lifestyle Malls this International Museum Day, as guests are invited to experience museums that celebrate culture, heritage, and learning in accessible and engaging ways.
Museums continue to play an important role in preserving identity, safeguarding history, and passing on stories from one generation to the next. Beyond displaying artifacts and artworks, these spaces help communities stay connected to the narratives that shape both local and national culture. As International Museum Day is observed around the world, museums also stand as reminders of the value of knowledge and cultural appreciation in today’s fast-changing environment.
At Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, exploring a museum can easily become part of a casual day out. From heritage destinations in Binondo to contemporary art spaces in Iloilo and interactive science experiences for families, visitors can immerse themselves in culture and curiosity while dining, shopping, or spending time with loved ones.
Walking Through Binondo’s Living Story
Tucked within Lucky Chinatown is the Chinatown Museum, the only museum dedicated entirely to the history of Binondo. More than a traditional museum, it unfolds as an immersive storytelling experience designed to transport visitors into the very heart of Manila’s oldest Chinatown.
Inside are 18 curated galleries, each carefully designed to transform history into an experience. Guests are welcomed by a traditional Chinese Pailou and an original Letras y Figuras installation that immediately introduces the visual and cultural language of Binondo. From there, visitors journey through centuries of history—from the arrival of early Chinese settlers and the district’s bustling silk trade to the rise of family-run businesses and the unique blending of Filipino and Chinese cultures.
The experience feels less like observing artifacts from a distance and more like stepping directly into history. Architectural replicas, sensory exhibits, and interactive spaces invite visitors to move through stories rather than simply read about them. The journey culminates with a special stamping station where guests can create a keepsake inspired by their experience—transforming memories into a souvenir they can bring home.

Where Contemporary Art Finds a Home
In Iloilo Business Park stands the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Art (ILOMOCA), the first museum in the Visayas region dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Beyond exhibitions, the museum serves as a space where conversations, ideas, and communities come together through creativity.
Spanning three floors at Casa Emperador, ILOMOCA invites guests to experience art from multiple perspectives. Visitors can explore rotating exhibitions featuring both local and international artists, discover works from the Valencia collection, and encounter installations that reflect evolving conversations in contemporary society.
Beyond the galleries is The Box, the museum’s intimate theater space that hosts screenings, workshops, performances, and cultural programs—further extending the museum experience beyond the walls of traditional exhibition rooms. With thoughtfully curated spaces and public programs, ILOMOCA transforms art into something deeply participatory and accessible.
ILOMOCA is open from Tuesday to Sunday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

A Museum Where Science Comes to Life
Not every museum experience begins with paintings or historical archives. At Festive Walk Iloilo, learning takes a more hands-on approach through Science XPdition, Iloilo’s first interactive in-mall science museum dedicated to discovery and experiential learning.
Spanning 1,650 square meters, the museum features over 40 interactive exhibits spread across 10 themed laboratories, allowing guests to explore scientific ideas through movement, experimentation, and play. Visitors can build simple machines, navigate sensory rooms, experiment with natural forces, and engage with concepts across physics, engineering, biology, and earth science.
One of its standout attractions is a life-size silicone figure of Albert Einstein, which quickly became a crowd favorite. But beyond photo opportunities, Science XPdition is designed to turn learning into an immersive adventure—particularly for students, families, and curious minds eager to experience science beyond the classroom.
Science XPdition is temporarily closed as it gears up for exciting new experiences and bigger discoveries ahead.
Creating Meaningful Destinations
As museums continue to evolve, they remain among the few spaces capable of connecting people to stories larger than themselves. Whether through history, art, or science, these destinations offer opportunities not just to observe, but to participate, discover, and engage. This International Museum Day, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls reminds guests that meaningful cultural experiences may be closer—and more accessible—than expected.
