‘Watch Me Kill‘ won three major awards from Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2019: Tyrone Acierto won Best Director, Best Editing for Colorado Rutledge, and Best Cinematography for Marcin Szocinski.

This psychological action-drama thriller is one of the 10 official finalists of the third year of PPP, an annual all-Filipino film festival organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) with Liza Diño as chairperson. The festival runs until September 19 across all cinemas nationwide, in line with the celebration of 100 Years of Philippine Cinema.

The film, shot in the classic Kodak 16mm film camera (and not the usual digital camera), stars award-winning Filipino actors Jean Garcia and Jay Manalo.

In the movie, we witness a different Jean Garcia in a role that we have never seen her the past 30 years of her acting career.  She portrays the lead character of Luciana, a female killer-for-hire, she leaves no witnesses behind.   She’s fierce, cold and calculating.  A person of few words, shoot first ask questions later.  Her inner struggle is her worst enemy. Her downfall is her denial to come face to face with her true identity.

Produced, written, and directed by Tyrone Acierto, from CineBandits Entertainment and distributed by Viva Films, “Watch Me Kill” is Graded “B” by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB) and is the only Filipino film invited to the 2019 WARSAW International Film Festival to be held in Poland on October 11.

Golden girl Jean (who turned 50 last August 22) and in her 30 plus years in the industry, the actress admits that this is her most challenging role to date as a lead character in film, that of a cold-blooded and ruthless killer-for-hire.

Jean’s character in this film doesn’t kill without a purpose, there’s a twist in the story by the end. She extensively prepared for the role of Luciana, especially in handling fire arms to fit the character. 

This is something very new for Jean as she have never done this kind of role in film before. Director Tyrone Acierto (based in Chicago, USA), knows very well his craft and Jean expects to have more movie projects with him in the future.

Watch Me Kill is now showing in PH cinemas as part of this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino which runs until September 19, as distributed by VIVA Films.
