With more than 3.6 million followers on Facebook alone, content creator Mam Elma Abesamis Asagra has become one of the most followed personalities in the local digital space.
Mam Elma first gained recognition as the longtime partner of content creator Sir Geybin Capinpin.
Recently, she visited the showroom of Maddox Jewelry at 1011 JP Rizal Street, Concepcion Uno, Marikina City, where she brought several pieces of jewelry that Sir Geybin had given her over the years. The purpose of the visit was to have the items evaluated and determine their actual value.
During her visit, Maddox Jewelry founder and president Ms. Charo asked Mam Elma if she had any doubts about the jewelry gifts she received from her boyfriend.
Mam Elma admitted with a laugh:
“Opo, kasi siya rin, hindi niya masagot.” (Yes, because even he can’t answer it.)
She explained that while Sir Geybin assures her that the pieces are genuine, she still wanted to be certain.
“Sabi naman po legit, pero siyempre, mahirap na po. Sabi legit, pero hindi naman pala.” (He says they’re legitimate, but of course it’s better to be sure. Someone can say it’s legit, but it might turn out not to be.)
She added that her partner regularly buys jewelry, making it difficult to keep track of everything.
“Bili lang po siya nang bili kaya ang hirap.” (He just keeps buying things, so it’s hard to keep track.)
Aside from having the jewelry appraised, Mam Elma said she also visited the store to purchase Mother’s Day gifts for her mother and her future mother-in-law, Mommy Bet.
Like Sir Geybin, Mam Elma is also a licensed teacher. During their conversation, she shared that her partner had been interested in vlogging since childhood and looked up to Cong TV as one of his inspirations.
The discussion also turned to the couple’s relationship. According to Mam Elma, they have been together for seven years, but marriage is not yet at the top of their priorities as they continue working toward personal and family goals.
Explaining why they are taking their time, she said:
“Ngayon pa lang po kasi kami nagsisimulang maabot yung mga achievements at goals namin. Yung bahay po ng parents namin, kakagawa pa lang. Yung mga sarili naming gamit tulad ng sasakyan, ngayon pa lang din po. Kaya parang ine-enjoy pa lang muna namin.” (We’re only starting to achieve the goals we’ve set for ourselves. We recently completed our parents’ house, and we’re only now acquiring things of our own, such as a vehicle. For now, we’re simply enjoying this stage of our lives.)
Mam Elma also addressed comments from some social media users who have described her as materialistic. She responded to the criticism in Maddox Jewelry’s vlog, which was uploaded on YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok.
The interview became emotional when Ms. Charo asked why Mam Elma still hopes to become a doctor or pursue a PhD in education. The question prompted her to reflect on her parents’ support and sacrifices.
Speaking about her decision, Mam Elma said:
“Sa parents ko po kasi, hindi rin sila pumayag noong una na mag-stop ako sa teaching. At least, wala pong regrets.” (My parents did not initially agree when I wanted to stop teaching. At least now, I won’t have any regrets.)
By the end of the visit, Mam Elma had purchased jewelry not only for her mother and future mother-in-law, but also for herself.
