Star Sinemax enters PH streaming scene

AiAi delas Alas, Mark Herras, Jeric Gonzales, Herlene Budol, Boobay, Mon Confiado, Yasser Marta, and Arnell Ignacio are among the stars leading the growing lineup of films coming to Star Sinemax, the newest Filipino streaming platform that officially launched on June 26 during a grand event in Quezon City.

The launch marked the beginning of what the company described as a new era of entertainment, introducing a platform dedicated to bringing original Filipino films to audiences around the world while creating more opportunities for local filmmakers and content creators.

Leading the launch was Star Sinemax President and CEO Ery Gushi, who shared the company’s vision of empowering storytellers and connecting cultures through compelling narratives that can reach viewers anytime, anywhere.

How it all started

Speaking before partners, artists, investors, and members of the media, Gushi reflected on how Star Sinemax began as a simple idea nearly two years ago.

She recalled that when the company was established in November 2024, the vision was to create “a platform where great stories can be told, where talented artists can shine, and where audiences can enjoy meaningful entertainment anytime, anywhere.”

She described the launch as the moment that vision officially came to life.

While acknowledging the growing number of streaming services in the market, Gushi said Star Sinemax intends to set itself apart through what it calls “fearless cinema.”

She remarked during her opening statement: “What makes Star Sinemax different is our fearless storytelling and our desire to challenge people’s perspectives through the power of cinema.”

She added that the platform also aims to become a global stage for producers, directors, writers, actors, and other creatives, revealing that Star Sinemax has already begun streaming in Japan as part of its international expansion.

Gushi also thanked the platform’s partners, investors, production teams, and behind-the-scenes staff who helped turn the project into reality. Looking ahead, she promised subscribers a steady stream of fresh and daring content. “The launch is only the beginning,” she said. “We are committed to create, grow, and innovate a platform that our artists and subscribers can truly be proud of.” She concluded by welcoming audiences to “Fearless Cinema” and “a world of stories without limits.”

With a catalog spanning mature-themed films, LGBTQ+ stories, romance, horror, and family-friendly entertainment, Star Sinemax aims to cater to a wide range of audiences through an expanding slate of original productions.
