After moving audiences to tears, laughter, and deep self-reflection, the acclaimed stage adaptation of Ricky Lee’s best-selling novel Para Kay B is set to make its much-awaited return. The production will have a limited rerun from September 12 to 28, 2025, at The Doreen Black Box Theater, Ateneo de Manila University.
Adapted from Ricky Lee’s groundbreaking book, Para Kay B boldly confronts the question, “Sa limang umiibig, isa lang ba talaga ang p’wedeng maging maligaya?” (Of five people in love, is only one destined to be happy?). It brings together five interwoven love stories, each delving into the joy, mess, and pain of loving and being loved. Expect unfiltered performances, lines that strike a personal chord, and scenes that will have audiences thinking, “Wait lang, ako ‘to ah…” (Wait, this is me…).
Backed by LA ProdHouse and Fire and Ice LIVE!, the show is directed by Yong Tapang Jr., who also serves as a producer alongside Lambert Angeles, Voltaire de Jesus, Liza Diño, and Ice Seguerra. A talented creative team of designers, choreographers, and stage managers is set to deliver a rerun that not only lives up to its sold-out premiere but also deepens its emotional impact.
Following its first run—praised by critics and packed with enthusiastic audiences—this September’s staging will introduce fresh casting choices, explore new emotional layers, and revisit the heartbreaks and triumphs that captivated theatergoers the first time around.
“What makes Para Kay B’s theatrical rerun exciting is the addition of our new cast. Each new actor will bring an interesting flavor not just to the production but to the whole storytelling as well,” director Tapang said in a statement.
“Some of our new cast members were able to do Para Kay B even before it was fully staged. It will be a totally different experience from the previous run.”
The powerhouse cast includes Mario Magallona, Ava Santos, Liza Diño, Maria Alilia “Mosang” Bagio, Martha Comia, Sarah Garcia, Via Antonio, Phi Palmos, and more, supported by an exceptional creative team including Playwright Eljay Castro Deldoc, Creative Consultant Phi Palmos, Choreographer Kirby Dunnzell, Technical Director Yabs, Costume Designer Raven Ong, and Set Designer Julia Pacificador.
“When we first staged Para Kay B, we knew we had something special but we never imagined the response would be so overwhelming. We sold out almost all of the shows and audiences kept asking when we’d bring it back,” said Diño, one of the producers who is also playing the role of Ester, one of the lead characters.
“That kind of love from the theatre community is rare, and it fuels us to make this rerun even more heartfelt and unforgettable. We’re inviting everyone, whether you saw it the first time or are discovering it now, to join us, laugh with us, cry with us, and be part of this journey once more.”
With its combination of biting humor, relatable storytelling, and emotional catharsis, Para Kay B is poised once again to be the talk of the theatre scene: a must-watch for anyone who’s ever loved and lost.
